ABB Drivetune Bluetooth Drive Configuration App

ABB Drivetune is a free mobile application for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets that enables drive engineers and maintenance technicians to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot ABB ACS series variable frequency drives wirelessly via Bluetooth. The application communicates through the BTAC-01 Bluetooth adapter module fitted to the drive's control panel port, establishing a secure wireless connection within a range of approximately 10 metres — sufficient to allow the engineer to stand at the motor or observe the process while adjusting drive parameters, without being constrained to stand directly in front of the drive panel. This wireless working method is particularly valuable in confined electrical rooms, elevated platforms, and hot or noisy environments where standing close to a running drive panel for extended periods is uncomfortable or impractical.

Drivetune provides access to all drive parameters through the same hierarchical structure as the ACS-AP-I assistant control panel, including the ability to read and write individual parameters, view real-time signal graphs for up to four selected parameters simultaneously, access the full 64-event fault history with all diagnostic data, and upload or download complete parameter files to and from the mobile device. The parameter file management capability is a significant time saver for commissioning large projects with multiple identical drives — saving a parameter set from the first commissioned drive and wirelessly deploying it to subsequent drives in minutes.

In Saudi Arabia's industrial maintenance environment, Drivetune is widely adopted by ARAMCO, SABIC, and SEC maintenance contractor teams who maintain large drive fleets. The ability to assess drive health and parameter status without opening MCC cubicle doors is valued particularly at facilities under HAZOP-assessed risk of explosive atmospheres, where minimising the frequency and duration of MCC door-open events reduces the risk of ignition source exposure. The ABB Drivetune app's Arabic language interface enables Saudi national maintenance operators to use the tool independently without translation support.
