Schneider Enerlin'X IFE Ethernet Interface for Masterpact

The Schneider Electric Enerlin'X IFE is an Ethernet communication interface module that retrofits to Schneider Masterpact NT/NW and Compact NS air circuit breakers and moulded case circuit breakers, providing Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP connectivity without hardware replacement of the existing breaker — enabling the legacy LV switchboard investment to gain full smart switchgear capability. The IFE module plugs into the Masterpact/Compact NS communication port and presents the circuit breaker's protection relay settings, tripping events, energy measurements, and remote control functions as Modbus TCP registers or EtherNet/IP objects, accessible from any Ethernet-connected SCADA, energy management system, or EcoStruxure Power Operations platform. Remote racking operations — racking-in, racking-out, and remote opening and closing of the circuit breaker — are supported via the IFE Ethernet interface, enabling full remote operation of the LV switchboard from the operations centre without physical access to the switchboard.

The IFE's dual Ethernet ports support both a dedicated PC-to-breaker management connection and the plant Modbus TCP network simultaneously, without requiring a network switch for each breaker. The module draws power directly from the circuit breaker's internal 24 V supply, requiring no external auxiliary power supply. Each IFE module presents the breaker's complete measurement and protection data — LSIG trip unit settings, instantaneous measurements, energy counters, and fault cause records — in a standardised Modbus TCP register map compatible with all major SCADA platforms. This standardised register map is documented in the EcoStruxure Power Device Library, enabling plug-and-play integration into Schneider's EcoStruxure Power Operations dashboard without custom configuration.

In Saudi Arabia, the Enerlin'X IFE is the principal tool for LV switchboard digitalisation and energy management retrofit projects at existing facilities — enabling ARAMCO, SABIC, SWCC, and large commercial building owners to add smart monitoring to Masterpact circuit breakers installed 5–15 years ago without replacing the switchboard. The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) infrastructure division is retrofitting IFE modules to Masterpact circuit breakers in its industrial estate main distribution boards to enable centralised energy monitoring and trip alarm management from MODON's central operations centre in Riyadh.
