WEG DOL Starter Assembly MPW-25 + CWM09 (up to 0.25 kW)

The WEG DOL Starter Assembly combining the MPW-25 motor protection circuit breaker with the CWM09 contactor provides a complete, IEC 60947-4-1 coordinated direct-on-line motor starter for three-phase motors up to 0.25 kW (0.33 hp) at 400 V AC. This combination is widely used in Saudi industrial MCCs for the smallest motor sizes found in HVAC panels, instrument auxiliary circuits, valve actuator drives, and utility panel motor loads.

Assembly Description

The assembly consists of the MPW-25 series MPCB (customer selects current range matching motor FLC: D006 through D025), CWM09 three-pole AC contactor rated 9 A at AC-3, and a 2-position pushbutton station (START/STOP) or 3-position selector switch (OFF/MANUAL/AUTO) for local control. The MPCB provides overload and short-circuit protection, the contactor provides switching, and the control circuit provides local and remote start/stop functionality. Auxiliary contacts on both MPCB (trip signal) and contactor (run feedback) connect to PLC, DCS, or SCADA for remote monitoring and alarm functions common in Saudi industrial control systems.

IEC Coordination

The MPW-25 + CWM09 combination achieves IEC 60947-4-1 Type 2 coordination at prospective short-circuit currents up to 50 kA at 400 V, meaning neither the MPCB nor the contactor sustains damage requiring replacement under short-circuit fault conditions. This coordination level is specified in Saudi Aramco MCC design standards and SABIC procurement requirements for motor starter assemblies to ensure the highest reliability and lowest maintenance cost over the plant life.
