WEG DWE-4 PT100 Temperature Monitoring Module

The WEG DWE-4 PT100 Temperature Monitoring Module is an expansion accessory for the DWE-4 advanced electronic motor protection relay that adds up to 6 PT100 RTD (resistance temperature detector) inputs for monitoring motor stator winding temperatures (typically 3 RTDs, one per phase) and bearing temperatures (typically 2 RTDs, drive end and non-drive end). This module is specified for critical large motors in Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and SWCC facilities where continuous winding temperature monitoring is required as part of the machine protection and condition monitoring system.

PT100 Monitoring Functions

Each PT100 input provides continuous temperature measurement from -50°C to +250°C with ±1°C accuracy. Alarm and trip thresholds are independently configurable for each PT100 channel: for example, stator winding alarm at 140°C, trip at 160°C (Class F insulation); bearing alarm at 80°C, trip at 95°C. Temperature values are available via Modbus RTU and PROFIBUS DP communication for display in DCS graphics and trending in Saudi Aramco historians. The PT100 inputs supplement (not replace) the PTC/NTC thermistor input of the base DWE-4 relay, providing more precise temperature measurement for critical motor protection.

Saudi Aramco's SAES-P-100 Appendix A specifies PT100 RTD winding temperature monitoring for motors on critical and essential services above specific ratings.
