WEG DWE-4 Motor Protection Relay with Energy Metering Module

The WEG DWE-4-S4-ENERGY combines the full DWE-4 motor protection relay with an integrated energy metering module, providing kWh, kVArh, power factor, voltage, and current measurement for each protected motor. This variant is specified in Saudi industrial facilities implementing motor energy monitoring as part of Vision 2030's National Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) and Saudi Aramco's energy intensity reduction targets, where individual large motor energy consumption must be measured and reported to the energy management system.

Energy Metering Functions

The energy module measures: active energy (kWh), reactive energy (kVArh), apparent power (kVA), power factor, three-phase voltages (L-L and L-N), three-phase currents, and motor running hours. All values are accessible via Modbus RTU and PROFIBUS DP, enabling integration with plant energy management systems (EnMS) certified to ISO 50001, which is increasingly required for Saudi Aramco and SABIC facilities under their sustainability commitments. The energy data combined with running hours enables calculation of motor specific energy consumption, motor load factor, and identification of oversized motors running at low efficiency — key inputs for motor energy efficiency studies.

Saudi Arabia's National Energy Services Company (TARSHID) and Aramco Energy's efficiency programmes require monitoring and reporting of large motor energy consumption.
