WEG MPW-25-3-D020 Motor Protection Circuit Breaker

The WEG MPW-25-3-D020 motor protection circuit breaker provides thermal-magnetic protection for three-phase motors in the 1.6 A to 2.0 A current range, covering motor sizes from approximately 0.55 kW to 0.75 kW at 400 V AC. This is one of the most commonly specified motor protection devices in Saudi industrial motor control centres, as the 0.55–0.75 kW motor size is extensively used for HVAC fan motors, small pump starters, agitator drives, and instrumentation auxiliary motors across Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SEC, and Ministry of Water facilities throughout the Kingdom.

Thermal-Magnetic Protection

The MPW-25-3-D020 combines a Class 10 bimetallic thermal element with an instantaneous magnetic short-circuit release. The Class 10 trip time characteristic ensures that under 7.2× FLC starting current, the device does not trip during normal DOL motor starting, while providing adequate overload protection for the thermal characteristics of standard efficiency and IE3 premium efficiency motors. The adjustable current range (1.6–2.0 A) enables precise calibration after motor installation, including field derating for Saudi ambient temperatures above 40°C per IEC 60947-4-1 Appendix B correction factors.

Integration with WEG CWM Contactors

The MPW-25-3-D020 is specifically coordinated with WEG CWM series contactors (CWM09, CWM12, CWM16) to form tested and certified DOL starter assemblies per IEC 60947-4-1 Table 3. Coordination type 2 (no damage to contactor or starter under short-circuit conditions) is achievable with appropriate contactor selection.
