Safety & Protection in Saudi Arabia
Industrial safety is not optional in Saudi Arabia — it is enforced. Saudi Aramco's Life Saving Rules, SABIC's Process Safety Management requirements, and the Kingdom's Labour Law (Article 121) together create one of the most rigorous safety regulatory environments in the world. The human cost of safety failures in Saudi industry — refinery fires, gas releases, confined space incidents — has driven a strong culture of safety investment, with major operators mandating specific brands and standards for all personal protective equipment (PPE) and detection systems.
Razz Middle East distributes a comprehensive safety and protection portfolio covering five core areas. Personal protective equipment: head protection (hard hats to ANSI Z89.1 and EN 397), eye and face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shields), hearing protection (earplugs and earmuffs to EN 352), respiratory protection (disposable filtering facepiece, half-mask and full-face respirators, SCBA and ELSA escape sets), hand protection (chemical-resistant, cut-resistant, heat-resistant and electrical gloves), foot protection (safety footwear to ISO 20345 S1–S3 and ASTM F2413), and body protection (chemical suits, arc flash suits, high-visibility vests, coveralls).
Gas detection: fixed single-point and multi-point gas detectors, wireless gas detection networks, personal clip-on gas monitors, portable multi-gas analysers, catalytic bead and electrochemical sensors for H₂S, CO, LEL, O₂, SO₂, Cl₂, and NH₃. Fire detection and suppression: addressable and conventional fire alarm panels, smoke and heat detectors, flame detectors (UV/IR), CO₂ and dry chemical suppression systems, water mist systems, foam deluge systems, and fire extinguishers. Safety signage, lockout/tagout (LOTO) systems, and emergency eyewash and shower equipment complete the portfolio.
Safety & Protection Market in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia's safety equipment market is dominated by mandatory procurement through major operators' approved vendor lists. Saudi Aramco maintains a list of approved PPE suppliers updated annually; equipment must pass independent testing at accredited laboratories. The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) and the Ministry of Human Resources enforce occupational health and safety regulations across all Saudi workplaces. The oil & gas sector — employing over 150,000 workers — is the largest single buyer of industrial safety equipment in the Kingdom.

Buying Guide: Safety & Protection for Saudi Arabia
Buy to Saudi Aramco's approved PPE specifications
Saudi Aramco publishes a list of approved PPE for each hazard category (SAES-B-069 for fire-resistant clothing, SAES-A-007 for chemical suits). Equipment on the approved list has been tested by Aramco or recognised third parties. Using non-approved PPE on Aramco sites results in immediate contractor non-conformance findings.
Match ATEX Zone to gas detector sensor type
Zone 0 (continuous gas presence) requires intrinsically safe (Ex ia) certified detectors. Zone 1 (likely explosive atmosphere) requires at minimum Ex ib or Ex d certification. Zone 2 (unlikely but possible) permits Ex nA certification. Always cross-check zone classification with the gas group and temperature class.
EN 14387 for respiratory cartridges in H₂S service
Hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) is present in virtually all Saudi Aramco producing facilities. Half-mask and full-face respirator cartridges for H₂S service must be certified to EN 14387 Class B2 or NIOSH approval for acid gas. Organic vapour cartridges (Class A) provide no protection against H₂S.
SASO & Regulatory Compliance — Safety & Protection
All PPE sold in Saudi Arabia must comply with the Saudi Technical Regulation for Personal Protective Equipment (SASO PTR-PPE), which aligns with EN ISO standards. Fire suppression systems must comply with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards as adopted by Saudi Civil Defence, and specifically NFPA 72 (fire alarm) and NFPA 13 (sprinkler systems). Gas detectors must comply with IEC 60079-29 for toxic gas and IEC 60079-20 for explosive gas detection. All safety equipment supplied by Razz Middle East includes manufacturer test certificates and, where required, Saudi Civil Defence or SASO approval documentation.
