LS Electric ABS MCCB 800–3200A

The LS Electric ABS Moulded Case Circuit Breaker is LS Electric's largest-frame MCCB, engineered for high-current distribution protection in main low-voltage switchgear, large industrial motor control centres, and main incomer protection applications requiring circuit breaker ratings from 800 A to 3200 A. The ABS is designed to IEC 60947-2 standard and achieves breaking capacities of 65 kA to 150 kA (Icu at 415 V) depending on frame, placing it in direct competition with ABB Emax2 and Siemens 3WL air circuit breakers in the 800–3200 A range, while offering significantly lower capital cost in SAR due to its moulded case construction versus open-frame air circuit breaker alternatives. The ABS is available with a range of intelligent electronic trip units — from basic thermal-magnetic to advanced digital trip units with LSIG (long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground fault) protection — giving system engineers the selective coordination and protection functionality required for large low-voltage power systems in Saudi industrial facilities.

The ABS electronic trip unit (ETU) variants provide adjustable LSIG protection parameters with digital display of set values and actual current, enabling precise coordination with upstream transformers and downstream feeder circuit breakers. Zone selective interlocking (ZSI) is supported on ABS ETU models, allowing the system to identify the closest fault location and operate the nearest upstream circuit breaker without waiting for time delay — significantly reducing fault arc energy and equipment damage in large MV/LV substations. Measured electrical data (three-phase currents, voltage, power factor, kWh, and THD) can be read via the optional Modbus RTU or EtherNet/IP communication module, supporting energy management and power quality monitoring in compliance with SEC industrial tariff requirements.

In Saudi Arabia, 800 A to 3200 A circuit breakers are specified for the main LV switchgear in large industrial facilities — petrochemical plants, desalination stations, cement factories, data centres, and hospital main electrical rooms. The ABS is gaining traction with Saudi panel builders and substation contractors as an IEC-compliant, electronically protected large MCCB that costs substantially less than air circuit breaker alternatives while meeting the same protection and selectivity requirements in the 800–3200 A range.
