WEG TRIHAL Dry-Type Cast Resin Transformer

The WEG TRIHAL Dry-Type Transformer is a cast resin distribution transformer produced in WEG's facilities under licence from the TRIHAL technology developed by Schneider Electric's legacy transformer division, covering ratings from 160 kVA to 10,000 kVA at primary voltages from 3.3 kV to 36 kV and standard secondary voltage of 400 V, 50 Hz. Cast resin technology encapsulates the HV and LV windings in solid epoxy resin under vacuum impregnation, producing a transformer that requires no oil filling, no Buchholz relay, no oil sampling, and no fire suppression system — dramatically reducing installation cost and ongoing maintenance burden compared to oil-filled alternatives. In Saudi Arabia, dry-type transformers are increasingly specified for indoor locations in buildings, basements, and enclosed plant rooms where the oil fire risk of ONAN transformers is unacceptable under Saudi Civil Defence and NFPA 130 requirements, particularly in high-rise buildings, hospitals, data centres, and shopping malls.
