The WEG MVW01 600kW Pump Drive for Water Utilities is a pre-engineered, application-optimised medium voltage variable frequency drive package configured specifically for the 11 kV, 600 kW pump motor drives found in Saudi Arabia's major water transmission, treatment, and desalination network pumping stations. This product represents WEG's recognition that Saudi Arabia's National Water Company (NWC), Marafiq, and SWCC operate thousands of large centrifugal pump stations where a standardised, pre-configured MV drive package — rather than a bespoke engineered drive — reduces procurement lead time, simplifies installation and commissioning, and provides a well-understood, supportable product over the 30-year station design life. The MVW01-600kW-11kV package is supplied complete in a custom-fabricated, weatherproof IP54 enclosure rated for Saudi Arabia's 50°C ambient conditions, with pre-configured protection relay settings, control wiring, and HMI for immediate on-site installation.

The MVW01's multilevel IGCT topology in this water utility configuration is factory-set for centrifugal pump service: soft-start ramp aligned to prevent water hammer in transmission pipeline systems, PID control loop pre-configured for pressure or flow feedback, automatic pump start/stop based on reservoir level signals, and cascade multi-pump control capability for pump stations with two or three parallel pumps on a common header. The drive's energy meter is factory-calibrated and certified for SEC billing-quality energy measurement (0.5 accuracy class), enabling the pump station to report accurate energy consumption data directly from the drive to NWC's SCADA system without additional electricity meters.
