WEG W22X Mining Motor IECEx Flameproof Group IIB

The WEG W22X Mining Motor is WEG's dedicated hazardous area induction motor series, certified to IECEx (International Electrotechnical Commission Explosive) standard and built to IEC 60079-1 flameproof (Ex d) protection concept for Group IIB gases including methane, propane, and hydrogen sulphide — the hazardous atmospheres found in underground mining operations, coal and gas processing facilities, and hydrogen sulphide-containing environments at Saudi oil and gas production and processing sites. The W22X-IIB-T4 designation specifies IIB gas group suitability and T4 temperature class (maximum surface temperature 135°C), covering the gas hazard classification found at most Saudi upstream oil facilities and all NEC Class I Division 1 Zone 1 applications. The motor body is constructed from cast iron with machined flameproof joints and IP66 ingress protection rating, providing both explosion containment and resistance to the high-pressure water wash-down that occurs in mine and gas plant cleaning cycles.
