A miniature circuit breaker is defined by three values that must all be right. The rated current sets the continuous load it will carry. The tripping curve sets how quickly it responds to a multiple of that current, with a B curve for resistive and lighting circuits, a C curve for general and small motor loads, and a D curve for transformers and high inrush equipment; fitting a C curve where a D was specified produces nuisance tripping on energisation, and the reverse leaves cable protection slower than intended.
