About Rittal Enclosures and Climate Control

Rittal's programme divides into the enclosure itself, what mounts inside it, and what keeps it at temperature. VX25 is the large bayed frame system, a symmetrical 25 mm pitch frame that can be suited into rows for switchgear and control cabinets, with doors, roof plates, gland plates and mounting panels ordered as separate parts. TS8 is the earlier bayed frame still widely fitted in the Kingdom. AX and KX cover compact wall-mounted enclosures and small terminal boxes in sheet steel and stainless steel, with the earlier CM and AE ranges alongside them. SV is the power-distribution side: busbar supports, component adaptors and connection material for building distribution inside a cabinet. SK is climate control: filter fans and outlet filters, enclosure heaters, hygrostats and thermostats, air-to-air heat exchangers, and wall-mounted and roof-mounted cooling units rated in watts of removed heat. Enclosure cooling is the part of the Rittal range that matters most in Saudi Arabia. A cabinet standing in ambient air at 45 to 50 degrees Celsius cannot be cooled by a filter fan alone, so control rooms and outdoor kiosks at Jubail and Yanbu, cement plants, desalination and water-treatment sites and pumping stations generally use active cooling units, selected on the heat load inside the cabinet against the site ambient rather than on a European reference figure. Dust loading in the Eastern Province and at inland sites shortens filter mat life and pushes designs towards sealed cabinets with closed-loop cooling instead of filter fans. Coastal sites at Jubail, Yanbu and Ras Al Khair favour stainless steel or heavier paint systems against salt. Cabinets are built for 380/400 V, 60 Hz SEC supplies and are subject to SASO conformity.

Ordering and lead time

Enclosures are ordered as a model number plus a size, so state both: the range name, the width, height and depth in millimetres, and the material and finish. Doors, mounting plates, gland plates and roof plates are separate order numbers on the bayed systems and are not included with the frame. For climate control, give the enclosure size, the heat dissipated by the equipment inside in watts, the site ambient temperature and the supply voltage and frequency, and the cooling unit will be selected from those figures rather than from cabinet size alone. Mounting style, whether door, side wall or roof, must be stated because the same cooling capacity exists in different formats. Items are sourced to order, with about three weeks' lead time, delivered duty-paid to site.
