The Rosemount 5408 Non-Contact Radar Level Transmitter is Emerson's advanced FMCW radar instrument for accurate liquid level measurement in open tanks, storage vessels, and process applications where contact measurement is impractical or undesirable in Saudi Arabia's industrial facilities. Operating at 80 GHz, the 5408 focuses its radar beam to a narrow 3° cone angle, eliminating reflections from tank internals, agitators, and heating coils that cause errors in older 6 GHz or 26 GHz radar instruments used at Saudi Aramco crude oil storage tanks and SABIC chemical storage. The narrow beam enables installation through standard DN150 nozzles on existing ARAMCO storage tanks without expensive tank modifications.
The 5408's 80 GHz high-frequency signal provides exceptional signal strength in vapor-laden atmospheres above Saudi Aramco crude oil storage tanks and SABIC hydrocarbon storage terminals, where lower-frequency radar signals are attenuated by heavy hydrocarbon vapor curtains.
