SKF LGEP 2/0.4 Extreme Pressure Bearing Grease 400g

SKF LGEP 2 is a lithium-thickened extreme pressure (EP) bearing grease incorporating an effective EP additive package that prevents metal-to-metal contact under shock loads, heavy radial loads, and slow oscillating movements — the operating conditions that cause conventional greases to film-rupture and allow surface damage on bearing raceways. With an operating temperature range of -20°C to +110°C and NLGI grade 2 consistency, LGEP 2/0.4 (400 g cartridge) is positioned as the upgrade from general-purpose LGMT 2 grease for bearings in highly loaded, shock-loaded, or slow-speed applications in Saudi heavy industry.

The EP additives in LGEP 2 form a reactive protective film on metal surfaces when lubricant film pressure exceeds the threshold for hydrodynamic film formation — exactly the condition that occurs in the loaded zone of heavily loaded spherical roller bearings in industrial fans, construction equipment, and materials handling machinery. This protective film prevents the micro-welding and tearing of metal from raceway surfaces (adhesive wear) that shortens bearing life in non-EP grease applications. SKF LGEP 2 is specified in ARAMCO and SABIC standard lubrication procedures for heavy-duty bearings in fans, crusher drives, and heavy conveyor equipment — applications where the combination of high loads and potential shock loading makes EP lubricant protection essential.

LGEP 2's base oil viscosity of 200 mm²/s at 40°C — double that of LGMT 2 — produces a thicker lubricant film under slow-speed, highly loaded conditions, further reinforcing the EP additive protection and providing better surface separation than a lower-viscosity grease in this operating regime. The grease also exhibits excellent water resistance, making it suitable for outdoor applications in humid Saudi coastal environments and for equipment that may be pressure-washed during cleaning operations. LGEP 2 is compatible with the sealing materials used in standard industrial bearings and housings, and its lithium base makes it compatible with the most common general-purpose lithium greases already in use at Saudi plants, reducing the risk of compatibility issues when upgrading from LGMT 2 on specific equipment.
