C140 — Metso Nordberg C140 Jaw Crusher

The Metso Nordberg C140 Jaw Crusher is a large-format primary jaw crusher in the Nordberg C series, engineered for high-throughput primary crushing in major quarry and mining operations. With a feed opening of 1,400 × 1,070 mm and a maximum feed size of 850 mm, the C140 is capable of accepting run-of-mine blasted rock directly from the blast face or primary dump hopper. Its 200 kW installed power and 40 mm stroke deliver a crushing capacity of 430–1,000 t/h depending on CSS, feed grading, and material hardness — positioning the C140 as a direct replacement for older Allis-Chalmers, Kue-Ken, and Pegson large jaw crushers in the Saudi aggregates and phosphate sectors.

The C140 benefits from all the structural advances of the Nordberg C series: the one-piece epoxy-filled cast steel frame distributes crushing forces across the entire body rather than concentrating stress at welded joints, dramatically extending frame service life in high-tonnage applications. The oversized flywheel and balanced eccentric shaft minimise power peaks and reduce startup torque demand, allowing the C140 to start under light load on a standard 200 kW direct-on-line starter without special soft-start equipment. Metso's hydraulic wedge CSS adjustment system allows the closed-side setting to be changed in under one minute from the crusher's local control panel, without stopping the feed or dismantling any components.

For Saudi Arabia's large-scale infrastructure construction programme, the C140 is the primary crusher of choice in high-capacity fixed and semi-portable crushing plants. Saudi quarry operators supplying the NEOM megaproject — which requires an estimated 50 million tonnes of aggregate over its construction phase — operate multiple C140 units as the head of their crushing circuits. Saudi Cement's limestone quarries in the Eastern Province use C140-class jaw crushers to feed rotary kilns, processing hard limestone at rates that match kiln throughput requirements. Phosphate mining at Maaden's Al-Jalamid operations also uses large Nordberg jaw crushers as run-of-mine primary reduction before the HP cone secondary circuit.

Razz Middle East provides C140 supply, installation supervision, and aftermarket support including OEM jaw dies, cheek plates, toggle plates, and flywheel guard assemblies. Our technical team can advise on blasting pattern optimisation to improve C140 feed fragmentation quality, reducing bridging incidents and maximising effective throughput.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 1,400 × 1,070 mm feed opening and 850 mm maximum feed size accept run-of-mine blasted rock directly, eliminating the need for a pre-screen or secondary rockbreaker in most quarry layouts.
  • One-piece epoxy-filled cast steel frame distributes crushing forces across the whole body without stress concentration at welded joints, extending structural service life in high-tonnage applications.
  • Oversized flywheel and balanced eccentric shaft minimise power peaks during hard-rock crushing events, allowing DOL starting on a standard 200 kW starter without soft-start equipment.
  • Hydraulic wedge CSS adjustment changes the closed-side setting in under one minute from the local panel without stopping feed or dismantling components, enabling rapid product-size changes between shifts.
  • MX jaw die material with improved work-hardening provides up to 25% longer liner service life than standard manganese steel in abrasive limestone and basalt applications.
  • Modular Nordberg C-series design shares parts and service procedures with C106, C116, and C120 models, simplifying multi-crusher fleet spares inventory management.

Industrial Applications in Saudi Arabia

  • Run-of-mine primary crushing at large aggregate quarries supplying NEOM's estimated 50 million tonne aggregate demand, where C140 units operate as the head of high-capacity crushing circuits.
  • Hard limestone primary crushing at Saudi Cement's Eastern Province quarries, processing clinker-grade stone at rates matched to rotary kiln production throughput.
  • Maaden phosphate run-of-mine primary crushing at Wa'ad Al-Shamal Al-Jalamid, reducing blasted phosphate rock to feed size for HP series secondary cone crushers.
  • Basalt primary crushing for premium aggregate production in the Hejaz and Asir regions, where hard basalt rock requires the C140's high installed power and robust frame for reliable throughput.
  • Large-scale quarry aggregate supply for Saudi Aramco facility expansions, SWCC desalination plant civil works, and major highway and expressway construction across the Kingdom.
