Metso Nordberg C140 Jaw Crusher

The Metso Nordberg C140 Jaw Crusher is a large-format primary jaw crusher in the Nordberg C series, engineered for high-throughput primary crushing in major quarry and mining operations. With a feed opening of 1,400 × 1,070 mm and a maximum feed size of 850 mm, the C140 is capable of accepting run-of-mine blasted rock directly from the blast face or primary dump hopper. Its 200 kW installed power and 40 mm stroke deliver a crushing capacity of 430–1,000 t/h depending on CSS, feed grading, and material hardness — positioning the C140 as a direct replacement for older Allis-Chalmers, Kue-Ken, and Pegson large jaw crushers in the Saudi aggregates and phosphate sectors.

The C140 benefits from all the structural advances of the Nordberg C series: the one-piece epoxy-filled cast steel frame distributes crushing forces across the entire body rather than concentrating stress at welded joints, dramatically extending frame service life in high-tonnage applications. The oversized flywheel and balanced eccentric shaft minimise power peaks and reduce startup torque demand, allowing the C140 to start under light load on a standard 200 kW direct-on-line starter without special soft-start equipment. Metso's hydraulic wedge CSS adjustment system allows the closed-side setting to be changed in under one minute from the crusher's local control panel, without stopping the feed or dismantling any components.

For Saudi Arabia's large-scale infrastructure construction programme, the C140 is the primary crusher of choice in high-capacity fixed and semi-portable crushing plants. Saudi quarry operators supplying the NEOM megaproject — which requires an estimated 50 million tonnes of aggregate over its construction phase — operate multiple C140 units as the head of their crushing circuits. Saudi Cement's limestone quarries in the Eastern Province use C140-class jaw crushers to feed rotary kilns, processing hard limestone at rates that match kiln throughput requirements. Phosphate mining at Maaden's Al-Jalamid operations also uses large Nordberg jaw crushers as run-of-mine primary reduction before the HP cone secondary circuit.
