The Metso Nordberg HP400 Cone Crusher is the next step up from the HP300 in Metso's High-Performance cone crusher family, offering a throughput capacity of up to 480 metric tons per hour with a maximum feed size of 251 mm and a closed-side setting range of 10–51 mm. Powered by a 315 kW motor, the HP400 is engineered for high-tonnage secondary crushing in large mining operations and heavy-duty aggregate quarries, where it replaces older gyratory or spring-cone crushers with a smaller footprint, higher availability, and lower operating cost per tonne. The HP400 shares the proven HP platform — Hydroset hydraulic system, ASR, and a fully interchangeable wear-part family — with the HP300 and HP500, allowing operators to standardise maintenance training and spare-parts inventory across a mixed fleet.

The HP400's crushing chamber geometry has been optimised by Metso's process engineers to deliver a high-to-very-high crushing ratio with minimal fines generation, a characteristic valued by phosphate and mineral sand operators in Saudi Arabia's mining sector who need to maximise the yield of saleable coarse fraction. Metso's finite-element-analysed frame and countershaft assembly absorb shock loads from tramp iron and hard-inclusion events without fatigue cracking — a failure mode that shortens the service life of inferior competitor designs.
