Weidmüller PRO MAX 24VDC 5A DIN Rail Power Supply

The Weidmüller PRO MAX 24VDC 5A is a 120 W single-phase DIN-rail mounted switched-mode power supply (SMPS) providing a regulated 24 V DC output at up to 5 A continuous from a 100–240 V AC input, meeting IEC/EN 61558-2-16 and UL 508 standards for industrial control panel power supplies. The universal input range eliminates the need for input voltage tapping, making the PRO MAX compatible with the full spectrum of Saudi grid voltages — 220 V AC from SEC residential and commercial networks, 380 V AC (single-phase 380/220 V from the 3-phase network) in industrial facilities, and the legacy 127 V AC circuits found in some older ARAMCO and SABIC installations. The output is electronically regulated to ±1% under all load and temperature conditions, providing a stable 24 V DC bus for instrument loops, PLC power supplies, solenoid valve coils, and 24 V DC field device power in Saudi control-room and marshalling-cabinet applications.

The PRO MAX incorporates electronic output current limiting and electronic short-circuit protection (Hiccup mode) — on detection of an overload or short-circuit, the supply reduces output voltage and pulses the current in a hiccup pattern, limiting output power to approximately 30% of nominal to prevent overheating while repeatedly attempting to restart and recover the output. This behaviour protects the supply itself as well as the downstream wiring and connected instruments without requiring a manual reset, an important feature for unmanned wellhead panels and remote Saudi field junction-box power supplies that may not be visited by technicians for weeks. The integrated DC OK relay output provides a volt-free signal to the PLC or DCS indicating 24 V DC bus health, enabling automated fault-to-control-system alarming without additional monitoring relay hardware.

The PRO MAX 5A is the entry-level power supply for small instrument marshalling sections, single-cabinet PLC panels, and redundant-pair power supply sections in ARAMCO and SABIC field panels where the total instrument loop and solenoid load is below 120 W. When individual marshalling sections carry 20–30 HART instrument loops (each drawing approximately 22 mA at 24 V), the PRO MAX 5A provides the correct power budget without over-specifying a 10 A supply and incurring unnecessary cost.
