3300 — Rosemount 3300 Guided Wave Radar Level Transmitter
The Rosemount 3300 Guided Wave Radar Level Transmitter is Emerson's flagship GWR instrument for reliable liquid level and interface measurement in Saudi Arabia's most demanding hydrocarbon storage and separation applications. Using time-domain reflectometry at 26 GHz along a rigid or flexible probe, the 3300 provides ±3mm accuracy for total liquid level and ±5mm for oil-water interface level, critical for Saudi Aramco crude oil separator efficiency monitoring and SABIC distillation column sump control. Unlike ultrasonic level instruments that are affected by Saudi Aramco's hydrocarbon vapor and foam conditions, the GWR signal guides along the probe and is immune to these process disturbances.
The 3300's FMCW (Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave) technology provides echo separation resolution of 150mm, enabling reliable interface detection even when the oil-water emulsion layer is thick at Saudi Aramco field separators processing heavy crude from Safaniyah and Arab Medium crude from Ghawar. Advanced signal processing algorithms distinguish between the oil surface and the oil-water interface in the presence of emulsion layers, providing the two independent level signals needed for Saudi Aramco separator level controller input and water dump valve control. Continuous wax build-up detection on probe alerts to increasing coating conditions before measurement error occurs.
