CI532 — Sandvik Prisec CI532 Horizontal Shaft Impactor

The Sandvik CI532 Prisec Horizontal Shaft Impactor (HSI) is a versatile secondary and tertiary crushing machine that combines high-reduction-ratio impact crushing with the flexibility to switch between a primary impactor configuration and a secondary/tertiary configuration by adjusting the rotor tip speed and apron settings — the defining characteristic of Sandvik's Prisec concept. The CI532 features a 1,400 mm × 1,100 mm feed opening, four rotor blow bars, and a 160 kW (215 hp) direct-drive motor, delivering throughputs of up to 440 tonnes per hour in secondary configuration. The Prisec blow-bar design uses reversible hammers that can be rotated 180° when the leading face wears, doubling the usable life of each blow bar and halving the consumption cost per tonne crushed compared to non-reversible designs.

The CI532 is particularly effective for producing highly cubical aggregate with excellent particle shape characteristics — an increasingly important specification requirement as Saudi concrete and asphalt standards have progressively adopted the European CEN aggregate standards that limit the proportion of flaky and elongated particles. The high rotor tip speed in tertiary mode generates impact energy sufficient to fracture stone preferentially along natural cleavage planes, producing a high proportion of cubical particles that improve concrete workability and asphalt compaction without requiring separate reshaping steps. Saudi ready-mix producers supplying high-specification structural concrete for NEOM towers, Red Sea Project hotels, and Riyadh Metro station structures specify 10% maximum flakiness index on their coarse aggregate, a target the CI532 achieves consistently in limestone, dolomite, and hard basalt applications.

The Prisec CI532 also operates effectively as a primary crusher for soft-to-medium-hardness materials including limestone, gypsum, and phosphate ore, where its open-circuit reduction ratio of 12:1 or more eliminates the need for a separate tertiary crushing stage in some circuit configurations. In Saudi Arabia, cement manufacturers including Saudi Cement Company and YACCO use horizontal shaft impactors for secondary limestone crushing in their raw material preparation circuits, where the HSI's ability to produce a well-graded minus-40 mm product from run-of-quarry limestone at high throughput rates makes it competitive with cone crushers on total cost of ownership when blow-bar wear rates are acceptable for the rock type. Maaden's industrial mineral operations similarly employ HSI crushers for secondary phosphate and bauxite size reduction.

Razz Middle East provides CI532 systems with application engineering support covering blow-bar alloy selection (standard manganese, high-chrome, or ceramic composite), apron setting optimisation, and circuit configuration advice to maximise CI532 performance on each Saudi customer's specific rock type and product specification. We stock replacement blow bars, breaker plates, and rotor wear protection components locally for fast exchange at scheduled maintenance intervals.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Prisec dual-mode design switches between primary impactor and secondary/tertiary configurations by adjusting rotor tip speed and apron gap settings, providing two machines in one frame and reducing total plant equipment count.
  • Reversible Prisec blow bars rotate 180° when the leading face wears, doubling each blow bar's usable life and reducing consumption cost per tonne crushed — a significant operating cost reduction at Saudi quarry sites where blow-bar wear costs dominate HSI operating budgets.
  • High rotor tip speed in tertiary mode produces preferential fracture along natural stone cleavage planes, generating a high proportion of cubical aggregate particles that meet Saudi concrete aggregate flakiness index specifications without a separate reshaping stage.
  • 1,400 × 1,100 mm feed opening accepts primary jaw crusher product without pre-scalping at most Saudi secondary crushing circuit configurations, eliminating an intermediate conveyor and screen.
  • Open-circuit reduction ratio of 12:1 or greater allows the CI532 to replace a two-stage cone crushing circuit in soft-to-medium limestone applications, reducing capital cost and plant complexity for Saudi cement and aggregate producers.
  • Hydraulic apron adjustment allows rapid CSS changes from the operator platform without entering the crushing chamber, enabling quick product size changes when switching between concrete aggregate and asphalt chip specifications during a single production shift.

Industrial Applications in Saudi Arabia

  • Secondary and tertiary limestone crushing at Saudi Cement Company and YACCO raw material quarry plants, where the CI532's high reduction ratio and cubical product shape reduce downstream mill feed preparation requirements.
  • High-specification cubical aggregate production for NEOM and Red Sea Project structural concrete, where Saudi and international project specifications require less than 10% flakiness index in 10 mm and 20 mm coarse aggregate.
  • Secondary phosphate ore crushing at Maaden industrial mineral operations, where the CI532's primary-mode feed capability and high throughput rate match phosphate ore comminution circuit requirements.
  • Asphalt chip production at aggregate quarries supplying Saudi National Roads Programme highway construction, where cubical aggregate shape improves asphalt compaction and reduces ravelling in the Kingdom's high-temperature road surface conditions.
  • Gypsum secondary crushing for Saudi gypsum plasterboard manufacturing facilities at NEOM's SINDALAH Island and at existing industrial facilities in Jubail and Yanbu, where the CI532's low-abrasion soft rock capability minimises blow-bar wear costs.
